Description of the Tourist Experience

A Colombia culture trip through the nation’s southern territories unveils a captivating mosaic of natural wonders, historical depth, and enduring customs. Over the course of 16 days, inquisitive explorers journey from Bogotá to Neiva, San Agustín, Mocoa, Pasto, Popayán, and Cali, then circle back to the capital. During this odyssey, travelers absorb the culture and traditions of Colombia, rooted in ancient pre-Columbian societies and flourishing local practices still observed today.

As part of your Colombia culture trip, the adventure commences in the remarkable Tatacoa Desert, where crimson-hued gorges and otherworldly rock formations evoke a surreal spectacle. Not far away, the colonial town of Villavieja further highlights the essence of a Colombia culture trip, revealing the region’s storied past and establishing a contemplative ambience for the days ahead. Deeper south, San Agustín presents its famed archaeological treasures: towering stone statues fashioned by an enigmatic pre-Hispanic civilization, all set against the mighty Magdalena River.

Continuing this Colombia culture trip, visitors descend into the verdant jungles of Putumayo, renowned for their dramatic waterfalls and largely untouched biodiversity. Adventurers next brave the infamous “Death Route” from Mocoa to Pasto, a steep and winding road that weaves through the Andes at heights reaching 3,200 meters. This Colombia culture trip proceeds to the serene Cocha Lagoon, the imposing Galeras Volcano, and the historic cities of Pasto and Popayán, where colonial architecture, indigenous heritage, and time-honored customs all highlight the culture and traditions of Colombia.
